Quantum Innovation Center Advances Quantum Capabilities with Speed and Scale
New Innovation Center Creates Environment to Turbocharge Quantum Development
Lockheed Martin is accelerating quantum development with the newly launched Lockheed Martin Quantum Innovation Center (Lockheed Martin QuICTM), a unified hub to grow quantum research, development and prototypes for critical national security missions of the future.
For more than 15 years, Lockheed Martin has pioneered cutting-edge quantum technology spanning navigation, communications, and sensing, while leveraging the power of advanced quantum computing. To continue advancing these transformation capabilities, Lockheed Martin QuIC combines enterprise-level engineering rigor with the speed of innovation, empowering delivery of defense-ready quantum capabilities to outpace future threats.
“The QuIC represents our ongoing commitment to develop and integrate the best of American technology in quantum to help ensure an advantage for our nation and allies in deterring future threats,” said Sarah Hiza, senior vice president of Technology and Innovation at Lockheed Martin. “The QuIC builds on our heritage of doing hard things with speed at scale, and is modeled after our 20 years of success developing artificial intelligence for national security through our Lockheed Martin AI Center, or LAIC.”
The QuIC will operate as a center of excellence, providing capabilities in R&D across a wide range of quantum applications. This includes expertise in integrating and leveraging quantum technology developed outside of Lockheed Martin, like portfolio companies funded through Lockheed Martin Ventures capital, which recently expanded to a $1 billion fund. The reach of Lockheed Martin’s quantum capabilities also extends internationally, including the recent Swiss Innovation Hub launched in collaboration with IBM and ETH Zurich, as well as $100 million in Ventures funding for investments in the United Kingdom and Europe that advance key future technologies like quantum research.
Workforce Initiatives
The QuIC will also be a hub for quantum workforce development, empowering the team to deliver quantum technology more quickly to the next generation of Lockheed Martin systems.
The need to expand the quantum workforce has led Lockheed Martin to start workforce development initiatives, including the Lockheed Martin Quantum Talent Pipeline program to provide quantum training to current employees and Quantum Sprouts to fund innovative internal research and development projects.
