Can you tell us about what inspired you to join the military?

Where I grew up, it was rare to see people in the military around town. As a kid my grandmother would share stories of my grandfather who served in the Army Air Forces as a radio mechanic during WWII. Hearing those stories really sparked my interest in the military, which led me to joining the United States Air Force.

Can you tell us about your experience in the military?

In October 2005, I enlisted and went to aircraft maintenance training to become a C-130 aircraft maintenance crew chief.  While on active duty, I was motivated to make the most of my career. Soon after my enlistment, I enrolled and started taking classes during the evenings in an effort to earn a bachelor’s degree. As my goals progressed through experience and formal education, I set my sights on going to Officer Training School (OTS). The discipline I gained through my military experiences fortified the persistence and dedication needed for the challenge. In 2014, I transitioned from active duty into the Air Force Reserves where I served for three years before being selected as an OTS candidate in the Air National Guard. I graduated from OTS in August 2018.  Being accepted and graduating from OTS was one of the proudest moments in my career.  In the nine weeks spent at OTS, I developed life-changing relationships with some of the most motivated individuals I have ever met.  Each truly dedicated to service and making an impact in the Air Force. Without the help from my classmates and the support of my wife and kids that encouraged me, OTS would have been a much different story. I am very humbled by the support from family, friends, and mentors that helped me along the way. I look forward to the new challenges ahead as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer.
