What do you do on the weekends?
“My kids are NOT morning people, neither am I for that matter. So, when I went to wake my 5-year-old son from his Saturday morning slumber, I was surprised to see he was already awake. He was laying there quietly facing the window, clutching his favorite Hot Wheel. I stood there for a few moments watching him play, sponging up all the cuteness of the moment. When he caught my glance, he flashed a toothy grin at me and said, ‘Mommy, today is a great day!’ I said, ‘Yep. I think so. Why do you?’
He replied, ‘Because the sun is shining so bright!’ Admittedly, in that moment, my mind was already racing thinking about a million of the day’s to-dos. When his response struck my consciousness, it all came to a screeching halt. I was immediately disarmed, and all the stuff of the day melted away. Kiddos have an uncanny way of showing you the truth and uncovering what really matters – in the simplest ways. Here’s to appreciating the sunshine, thanks to my very own #SONshine.”
